A Prayer For New Year's Day

On this day, this New Year’s Day, With all my heart I have this to say.

As I look ahead to what can be, Through hopeful eyes and a childish glee,

Thank you Father for this new start, Fill me with Your kind and loving heart,

Help me to only glimpse at my past, So I can see how far and how fast,

You’ve led me to this point in time, It has been quite a painful climb,

But with Your help and Your guiding hand, My future is sweet like the promised land.

So much of life is still ahead, May I start each day as I lay in bed,

Asking You to lead the way, To help me live my life I pray.

A life full of Your peace and love, That only comes from You above,

So on this day, this New Year’s Day, These words to You please hear I pray
